The Lachenmann Art Gallery is delighted to present the first major exhibition in Germany in many years by the renowned Swiss artist Olga Titus. Large-format works will be shown alongside smaller, intricately crafted sequin paintings, which appear to float next to shimmering lenticular images and are framed by large, expansive wall banners. In this solo show, Olga Titus transports us to a dazzling, colorful, and glittering fairytale world.

With vibrant, bold colors, the artist conveys both the intersection and the connection between cultures. Born in Switzerland, she unites her roots in Graubünden with those in India and Malaysia. Viewing her works opens up visual worlds that seem to oscillate between sleep and awakening – vague memories of dreams reflected in glittering, sequined landscapes. Olga Titus creates intensely colored, flowing, and multi-layered compositions that draw the viewer in.

Her works reveal themselves as reflections of global visual languages, which the artist fuses with her own distinctive visual language. The immersive nature of her unique works unfolds as a fluid, ever-changing process in which viewers can—and should—actively move through the space, back and forth, to and fro. The artist's works are not static images in the classical sense: Olga Titus creates a cosmos that generates added value, opens up further dimensions, and thus allows us to immerse ourselves directly in the artist's world.

The techniques employed by Olga Titus are captivating, seductive, and invite us to wander through them and explore her artificial landscapes. In the digital realm, the artist creates vibrant places of longing, skillfully combining content and technique, both conceptually and intuitively, into unprecedented analog works. Her sequined pieces, as well as her moving lenticular images, rise above their frames and extend into the surrounding space. They transcend the confines of traditional canvas work and manifest as tactile wall objects.

Olga Titus's artistic signature and individual style remain unmistakable, uniting cultural factors. Through the layering of materials, the fluidity of the subject matter, and the glossy, shimmering surfaces, the complex interweaving of different approaches emerges, a characteristic feature of the artist's oeuvre.

In our exhibition, Olga Titus is once again showing classic canvas paintings after many years – but with a twist: the canvases, which she initially paints by hand, are then incorporated into a digital collage and finally printed. The resulting gaps, which are sometimes visible between the painting and the print, are intentional and reveal the underlying surface of the works.

Olga Titus boasts a rich exhibition history both nationally and internationally. Her works are represented in the collections of renowned institutions. A particularly significant moment in her career was 2020, when she was commissioned by Dior to design the "Lady Dior," an iconic women's handbag. The artist created three bags, each limited to 100 pieces.
