Countless nuances between black and white come together in Danil Yordanov's abstract painting. His radical reduction to shades of grey frees the sense of sight from our overstimulated world. This strong concentration on the monochrome surfaces initially leaves us speechless and opens new doors to unusual pictorial spaces for our eyes. There is a depth hidden in the reduction that allows us to immerse ourselves in a hidden world, beyond time and space. The surfaces, which initially appear uniform, have elements and bumps that seem to take up space and thus irritate the flat application of paint. During the creation process of the works, many of the canvases were first pierced and then sewn up. On the majority of the canvases there are collage elements made of metal that give the composition a form. These emphasize the industrial character of his works and go hand in hand with the metallic effect of the surface. In many cases the paper is crumpled to overcome the fragmentation of the stain and to reinforce the feeling of an industrial finish. The graphite used in his works represents an interesting material for the artist, allowing him to achieve the significance of black that he is aiming for. At the same time, it has the ability to unite, integrate and simultaneously manifest the texture of the surfaces on which he works. When looking at the works, the graphite used creates a shine that creates the presence of metal. This gives the works the effect of being part of an industrial object, such as a steel wall. In addition to this robustness, the vulnerability of material and color is also brought to mind through cracks, chunks and scar-like lines.

In the solo exhibition a/chromatic, Danil Yordanov's works are being shown in Germany for the first time. For this special event, the artist is presenting his intensive investigations into achromatic tones. He was born in 1972 in Balchik, Bulgaria and studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Veliko Turnovo, graduating with a master's degree in 1997. He has been a member of the Union of Artists of Bulgaria since 2007. He has received numerous awards in his home country. His works can be found in many collections. He has lived and worked in Kaiserslautern since 2010.
