Collection: Susanne Sterk
In Susanne Sterk's work she moves playfully between figuration and abstraction and, in her face and body studies, repeatedly explores the limits of the representability and perception of human emotions.
In the realization of her works, she prefers to use the line, which Susanne
Sterk’s love of experimentation is also not limited. Drawn lines
quickly replaced by threads, which seem to develop a dynamic of their own and enable the artist to work in a more three-dimensional and lively way.
The partially loose threads that protrude beyond the image deliberately break the
defined frames and let the figures appear in a state of suspension between dissolution and condensation.
After her first beginnings at the Free Art School in Stuttgart, Susanne Sterk studied product design at the Pforzheim University of Art and Design and at the University of Illinois in Chicago.
