Collection: Elsbeth Gisinger-Fessler

Elsbeth Gisinger_Fessler herself describes her art as "a vehicle or method to approach a topic experimentally and multi-layered, transforming non-material phenomena into a perceptible form of expression." The human body repeatedly plays an important role in this, functioning as a projection surface for experiences. Sociological and philosophical approaches repeatedly find their way into the artist's works: for example, in her series 'WALK A DOG', she questions the Western notion of humans at the pinnacle of creation, inspired by the writings of American historian Donna Haraway. In other works, she explores the representability of time and the "externalization of an inner state." Elsbeth Gisinger_Fessler's work makes dynamic processes visible: she creates objects from polyurethane and fiberglass that appear to solidify in a gestural moment, as if they were still flowing, warm, and malleable just moments before. The artist's colorful, high-gloss artworks symbolize a fluctuating state between movement and stillness.

Elsbeth Gisinger_Fessler studied sculpture and art education at the Mozarteum University of Art in Salzburg. Since 1999, she has been a member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists of Vorarlberg. She was also a laureate of the Jubilee Fund of the Private Foundation of Dornbirner Sparkasse in 2022 and was nominated for the acquisition of the 11th Hypo Art Prize in 2024. She lives and works in Lauterach, Austria.
