Collection: Elmar Valter

In his experimental photography, Elmar Valter intensively explores the themes of "time, space, and movement"; he makes short time sequences visible in the image, for example, through superimposition and compression, reflection and transparency, or long exposure and zoom. He also creates light and paper artworks, multimedia performances, videos, illuminations, and projections, as well as his own formats such as "Valtographies" and "Valtungs," fusions of photography and paper art.

Elmar Valter is also a lecturer and gives workshops at various institutions, including the International Art Academy Heimbach and the Stained Glass Museum Linnich.

Born in Düren in 1968, he studied object design in Aachen, graduating with a diploma, and has since worked freelance as an artist and musician.

" My photographs almost always revolve around the theme of 'time'. The images often depict figures moving through spaces, or streets where a short sequence of time passes; the focus is always on movement in space and the change of a state. "
