Im Rausch der Bergluft, inmitten der schimmernden Alpenflora, fließen leuchtende Farben in Ekstase zusammen. Betört vom sanften Reiz der Berge begeben sich Wandernde auf die Suche nach der nächsten Entzückung. Hoch oben, wo uns Edelweiß und Fliegenpilze verzaubern, zehren wir von der Kraft der Alpenlandschaft.
Im Ausstellungstitel ›Alpirismus‹ klingt an, auf welch besondere Weise sich die Künstlerin Katrin Kampmann in ihren Arbeiten der Bergwelt nähert.
In sinnlicher und dennoch starker Farbenpracht spiegeln sich jene Energien, die durch das Betrachten und Erleben der Bergwelt ausgelöst werden können. Durch eine raffinierte Wortneuschöpfung aus ›Alpinismus‹ und ›Vampirismus‹ - welcher hier nicht als Blutrausch, sondern als Bergrausch zu verstehen ist – steht der Ausstellungstitel Alpirismus für einen Gewinn von Stärke, für das Entrückt-Sein und das Überwinden von Problemen und Alltagssorgen durch Selbstvergessenheit.
Während die Künstlerin im Herstellungsprozess flüssige Farbe auf ihren Leinwänden und Papieren ineinanderlaufen lässt, die sich in strömenden Bächen auf die Bildoberfläche ergießen, vollziehen wir die sanften und bewegten Farbbahnen in der Betrachtung der sinnlichen Arbeiten nach. In einer Symbiose aus Zufall und Kontrolle lenkt Katrin Kampmann ihre Farbströme in bestimmte Bahnen, gibt ihnen Richtungen vor, aus denen sich Formen und Flächen zu gegenständlichen Motiven kristallisieren. Die figurativen Momente ergeben sich hierbei in einem ausgewogenen Dualismus von Abstraktion und Figuration, welchen die Künstlerin zu ihrer eigenen Formsprache entwickelt und der sich durch ihr gesamtes Werk zieht. Ihre malerischen Schöpfungen spielen dabei wiederholt mit traditionellen Gattungen und bekannten Bildsujets.
In den hier präsentierten Arbeiten legt sie den Fokus auf die Landschaftsmalerei, welcher sie sich seit einer performativen Wanderung über den Berliner Höhenweg im Zillertal und seit einer Künstlerresidenz im österreichischen Bad Gastein verstärkt zuwendet und sie neu belebt. Massive Bergketten, verschneite Bergspitzen, Hügel und Täler ergießen sich in der Dynamik der laufenden Farbbäche vor unserem Auge, bieten uns ein ausgewogenes Miteinander von realitätsnaher Bergwelt und entrückten Farbkombinationen, die der Fantasie der Künstlerin entsprungen sind.
Katrin Kampmann versteht es mithilfe ihrer Werke auch, unsere eigene Fantasie anzuregen, indem sie uns figurative Anhaltspunkte bietet, die wir in der Betrachtung selbst entdecken, vor unserem inneren Auge vervollständigen und nachvollziehen können. Bei der Betrachtung der bonbonfarbenen Bergwelten versenken wir uns in ekstatische und neue Gefühlsempfindungen.
In the rush of mountain air, amidst the shimmering alpine flora, bright colours flow together in ecstasy. Entranced by the gentle charm of the mountains, hikers set off in search of the next delights. High above, where edelweiss and fly agaric mushrooms enchant us, we enjoy the power of the Alpine landscape.
The title of the exhibition, 'Alpirism', hints at the special way in which the artist Katrin Kampmann approaches the mountain world in her works.
The energies that can be evoked by looking at and experiencing the mountain world are reflected in a sensual and yet strong colourfulness. Through a clever neologism of 'alpinism' and 'vampirism' - which is not to be understood here as bloodlust but as mountain ecstasy - the exhibition title Alpirism stands for a gain of strength, for being enraptured and overcoming problems and everyday worries through self-forgetfulness.
While the artist runs liquid paint into each other on her canvases and papers in the production process, pouring it onto the surface of the painting in flowing streams, we reenact the gentle and moving trajectories of colour in our contemplation of the sensuous works. In a symbiosis of coincidence and control, Katrin Kampmann directs her streams of colour into specific paths, gives them directions from which forms and surfaces crystallise into representational motifs. The figurative moments result in a balanced dualism of abstraction and figuration, which the artist develops into her own formal language and which runs through her entire oeuvre. Her pictorial creations repeatedly play with traditional genres and familiar pictorial subjects.
In the works presented here, she focuses on landscape paintings, which she has increasingly turned to and revitalised since a performative hike along the Berliner Höhenweg in the Zillertal and since an artist residency in Bad Gastein, Austria. Massive mountain ranges, snow-covered peaks, hills and valleys pour before our eyes in the dynamics of the running streams of colour, offering us a balanced coexistence of a mountain world close to reality and entranced colour combinations that have sprung from the artist's imagination.
With the help of her works, Katrin Kampmann also knows how to stimulate our own imagination by offering us figurative clues that we can discover ourselves in contemplation, and then complete and comprehend before our inner eye. When contemplating the candy-coloured mountain worlds, we immerse ourselves in ecstatic and new emotional sensations.
