Der in Dornbirn lebende und arbeitende Werner Branz wurde 1955 in Lustenau, Österreich geboren. 2008 wurde er beim Masters Cup mit dem Photographer of the Year ausgezeichnet. Seine Werke sind in internationalen Sammlungen in Österreich, Russland und Australien vertreten.

Der Künstler frönt in seinen Photographien einer unmittelbaren Obsession an weiblichen Körpern und ihren Formen, die sowohl der aktuellen Schönheitsnorm entsprechen, als auch Körpern und Formen jenseits dieses artifiziellen Ideals. Sowohl eingebettet in Natur, als auch isoliert im Photostudio weiß Branz seine Modelle mit künstlerischer Tiefe zu inszenieren. Die Gesichter der Frauen sind dabei für den Betrachter so gut wie nie sichtbar, folglich liegt der Fokus klar auf der Fleischlichkeit der Physis. Werner Branz spielt durch besondere Posen der Modelle, Blickwinkel und Farbigkeit mit den Sehgewohnheiten des Rezipienten und forciert so eine neue Betrachtung von Körperlichkeit. 

Werner Branz, who lives and works in Dornbirn, was born in Lustenau, Austria in 1955. In 2008 he was awarded the Photographer of the Year at the Masters Cup. His works are represented in international collections in Austria, Russia and Australia.
In his photographs, the artist indulges in an immediate obsession with female bodies and their forms, which correspond to the current norm of beauty, as well as bodies and shapes beyond this artificial ideal. Branz knows how to stage his models with artistic depth both in nature and isolated in the photo studio. The faces of the women are hardly ever visible to the viewer, so the focus is clearly on the fleshlessness of the physical. Werner Branz plays with the viewer's viewing habits through special poses of the models, viewing angle and colorfulness, thus forcing a new view of physicality.
