Girmachew Getnet ist ein äthiopischer Künstler, der in Frankfurt lebt und mit seinem Umgang mit Farben überrascht: Für ihn sind Pigmente ein künstlerisches und spirituelles Mittel, um sowohl Informationen als auch Energie auszudrücken. Seine Referenzen sind breit gefächert und reichen von der traditionellen afrikanischen Kunst bis hin zu zeitgenössischen Kunststilen wie dem deutschen Expressionismus: Auch für Girmachew Getnet hat die Farbe eine tiefe spirituelle Bedeutung und einen hohen Stellenwert. Insbesondere das tiefe Goldgelb, das in den meisten seiner Gemälde vorherrscht, ist für den Künstler ein Symbol für Vitalität und Energie, und diese beiden Empfindungen werden durch den gekonnten Pinselstrich so kraftvoll übertragen, dass sie fast greifbar sind.
Girmachew Getnet (geboren 1980 in Äthiopien) machte 2001 seinen Abschluss an der Addis Ababa Fine Arts and Design School. Kurz darauf gründete er das erste Kunststudio in der äthiopischen Hauptstadt, das Habesha Art Studio.

Girmachew Getnet is an Ethiopian artist living in Frankfurt who is surprising in his use of colour: for him, pigments are an artistic and spiritual means of expressing both information and energy. His references are broad and range from traditional African art to contemporary art styles such as German Expressionism: for Girmachew Getnet, colour also has a deep spiritual meaning and significance. In particular, the deep golden yellow that predominates in most of his paintings is a symbol of vitality and energy for the artist, and these two sensations are so powerfully conveyed by the skilful brushstroke that they are almost tangible.
Girmachew Getnet (born 1980 in Ethiopia) graduated from the Addis Ababa Fine Arts and Design School in 2001. Shortly after, he founded the first art studio in the Ethiopian capital, Habesha Art Studio.
